What A Week!

This has been a week for me. I'm not sure how everyone else is doing. I am just feeling overwhelmed. Has anyone else felt this way? I am trying to work, do online schooling, and raise two babies. Sometimes I feel like I am in over my head and just wish I could run away. I know that is not the way to handle anything. I try to go into things with a positive outlook but at times I just feel alone and no one around me understands. This week has just been a week one I have felt like throwing in the towel. I know in my heart that is not me. Being a single mom was not by choice and I have no regrets ever. My babies are the most important people in my life and mean the world to me. At times I just wish others were in my shoes and see what I am going through. I am sure some of you can relate. This weekend I am going to try to go off for a bit and just have some me time and work on gaining my positive thinking back. I guess I am just venting on here and anyone can join in. It just seems the harder I am pushing myself the tired I am getting. Anyone have any solutions? I just somehow need to find a little more balance that I once had. I would love to hear how everyone's week was and maybe some just uplifting thoughts. How was everyone's Mother Day?

  1. HI Julie,

You keep venting as much as you need girl!!! I know exactly what you are going through and feeling. I am a single/divorced mom of two kids ages 11 and 5. Working full-time, taking care of kids and going to college online is a balancing act that it very tricky at times. I can recall many times just wanting to throw in the towel and or running away. It does get to be overwhelming at times. When I start feeling overwhelm I try to figure out what is causing it, then tackle the issue to get ride of that feeling. Also, I only take it one week at a time for schooling. If I start looking at the projects due during the 10 weeks I freak out. But if I take it one week, one class at at time it does seem to calm me down. Some days I do no homework and might just enjoy an evening watching some good movies or playing with my kids. It helps keep me from burn out. Do you get a break from your kids at all? I know my free weekends are so needed to get back on track with life or simply just be lazy.

Making sure I eat right and exercise is a huge plus in helping me stay calm and focused on what needs to get done. The latest trick I have found to keep me calm is listen to soft music, such as Reiki Healing music.

I sure hope some of this is helpful. You are setting such a great example by being a mommy, working and attending college, keep it up!!! :-)

  2. Hey Julie,

Hang in there and you will get through it girl. I know it can get overwhelming at times for you, trying to do so many things at once. I am not in the exact situation as you but I do know how you feel. I have 2 kids and I am a full time mom but I do work like 2 nights a week bartending but my kids are already in bed at that time. Some people think I have it easy being a stay at home mom and not have to work. It is not as easy as everyone thinks it is. I do as much work around here as well as all the errands and bill paying as someone who works full-time. If I got payed for all I do being a stay at home mom I would be one rich woman!! LOL I could imagine if I had a full-time job on top of as much as I do now and I know it would be hard. Sometimes you just got to take it one day at a time not worry about tomorrow until it is here. When I get stressed out and feel like I want to give up sometimes (which latley has been a lot) I just think about my children and how I am setting a good example for them and providing them with the love and support they need. Also sometimes you just need a day a week to set aside for some "me" time. Like after the kids are asleep take a nice relaxing bubble bath with some candles with a calming scent, go to lunch with your girlfriends, or get a baby-sitter and have a girls night out and have a couple drinks. I have also found out that yoga is a great stress reliever as well. I hope my tips will help you get through your stressful time. Just hang in there and keep those negative thoughts away and you will get through it. Take care!!
    Jess
